Welcome to the Annual Science and Shapeshifters Dance! I'm so glad you all attended! First, I'd like to give a big hand to the following who coordinated this event for optimal success.
@Big Jim, who did what he does best so we could be here tonight.
@Neuman Grange and his New Machine crew, who provided food.
@Gene Sequins, who provides the best beats. (Thanks to Gene and Neuman for making sure we can interact with the Machine.)
@Sarah Tonin, who helped a bunch with the decorum.
And Dr. Tahity of the Citadel, as usual the only staff member to step up and do the dangerous stuff. If you break the rules, she will punish you, and Dark Magicks will surely be involved.
Oh yeah, the rules. Sorry to poop this party, but there have been several complaints regarding safety. See the third window, there on the west wall? Do not open it, under ANY circumstances! Also, if you are allergic to anti-Stink Ape pheromones, I suggest you use your EpiPen/ take your pills/ recite any incantations now. As far as dances are concerned, use your common sense. Keep PDA to a minimum, and keep it PG, too, no booze, no fighting... yeah.

It's the day of the Annual Science and Shape-Shifters Dance! I'm very excited to be going with a very good friend, Omega. He's a shape-shifter, too, and kind of REALLY cute, much more than when I saw him last (don't tell him I said that!). I didn't know he went here until a week ago, when I saw him in the cafeteria. He asked me yesterday in a beautifully written note passed during Elder Lit. Mother was very excited about my part in the coordination of the dance, as well as being proud of me ACTUALLY LANDING A DATE! so she sent me a sleeveless teal dress that cascades off of my shoulders and ends mid-thigh. The design is simple, but the color screams NOTICE ME. It's a very intellectual dress. I'm wearing a tear-shaped pearl pendant necklace with it.

@Sarah Tonin: I'm thinking of lots of white and geometric shapes and curves to make it look futuristic. We could substitute a shallow graduated cylinder in for a punch bowl, and test tubes for glasses. We need a four-dimension disco ball. Mirrors should line the walls where there aren't windows. Double helix streamers around the dance floor would look insanely cool, and is a very basic representation of the shape-shifter community. Could you do me a favor and find some shape-shifters? I'm thinking we could crown a shape-shifter as King or Queen of the dance.
Honestly, it might just be easier to create an alternate reality in the reality generators, but I don't know how to work those. Budget, limitless, if we have psychics skilled in the art of Jedi mind tricks and mind manipulation. ((If you are one of those people, I need you to help me buy things.))

I now have a cat. Yay. Her name is Thomas, but I call her Thom. I do love my dear Thom, very much. I like having a cat, because they don't have souls, either. @Nobody, darling, I did enjoy those Mongolian Starwalkers, however, I researched them and their diet was questionable. But I do like to visit them sometimes. I do believe that for now, a cat was a better choice. Oh yeah, and this one can talk! Well, all cats can talk, but Thom mews so that I can understand her! Only me, though.
Perusing the school archives is so fun. It's where I spend most of my free time besides the Cave of Souls, as I am a geek for any type of history. I read a student written piece about - what was it? the Prophe-Pocalypse? - and it was so very well written. I would like to say well done to the group that wrote it: @Scilph (your romance writing is so subtle, but beautiful still), @Morris, @Gretel, @Matching by Mattie, @Nobody, @*Atlantica*.... And more still! It truly was amazing. I will go there again sometime, and maybe I'll bring Thom.

I myself had great trouble finding the restrooms! However, I have been here long enough to tell you where the campus boundaries are, which fast food companies managed to sneak locations on campus, and how to navigate the forest. As far as time loops and pocket dimensions are concerned, classes are needed to understand them. Or you could take the path I took and binge watch Doctor Who all weekend when you're supposed to be studying.
Oy vey, my cat has decided to puke on my oriental rug. I need that for a levitation exam! Hopefully someone out there knows how to get that out. I'll have to get back to you. Until then, students like @Silph are people I have found extremely helpful.

Well, the other day was a slight fiasco and the healers are working hard with Dr Tahity, but today we'll start with something a little less involved: you'll learn how to control the shadows, like so:

As you can see, I have manipulated the shadow in that ominous corner to take the shape of an image in my mind. It requires laser focus, but you can always concentrate on a demonic symbol and coax the shadow. Why don't we try that. Concentrate on one of the demonic symbols on your cheat sheet.

A very busy day for me! I visited a very lonely @Kristopher in his dorm today, where we had a dreadfully intelligent discussion on lizards and past lives. However, I made the mistake of wearing baggy clothes to a lizard-infested area, because they like to hide in the folds of your clothes and puke on your dorm carpet. Which reminds me, I should probably get a pet, as I heard they earn extra credit in several animal-communal classes. @Nobody has two cats, I think. I might consult her on that.
Reading the school's archives in search for consolation about life without a soul, I discovered Nobody's writings on the Cave of Souls. I may visit the cave to talk to the souls there. I'll remember to thank Nobody later.
If this is indeed a school that mocks that of the Normals, there must be school dances. Odd school dances, but school dances nonetheless. Maybe @Big Jim would be the one to consult about that?
Oddly enough, I am making friends. I wish I could make more, but just about everyone seems to be in a different dimension.

This evening's meditations gave way to a shocking turn of events.
Today, I learned how to look inwardly and read my own soul. I figured I'd try it before I went to bed, which is usually when I meditate. I read over my notes very carefully and followed the instructions to the letter. I received no response. I tried again and again, staying up for hours. Frustrated, I contacted my professor, The Ghost of Dr. Howard Shirley, who confirmed my worst fears: I am soulless. I now write in my journal in hopes of putting this restless, soulless body to sleep. What happens when I die? Will I die? How come I still feel emotion? Even The Ghost of Dr. Howard Shirley cannot answer all of my questions.

What great fun it's been, staying in the background, watching these silly people wear their clothes backwards! The ghosts have informed me that they agree. If they wanted to talk to ghosts so much, they could have just contacted me. I read souls, and pardon me for dropping numbers, but ghosts are 100% soul.
Ah, yes, @Nate Sun, about getting out of there... you just might be doomed. Sorry about that. You can still attend your classes, but you are pretty much stuck a ghost. Whoops.
