The Psych of Mind and Other Realms, Unexplored - 7/8/2015 12:35pmHey, @
Aubrie and @
Randy Carter, just thought I'd let you guys know that there are about ten copies of "The Psych of Mind and Other Realms, Unexplored," by Helga Von Lutz in the Self-Aware Library (S-AL). The preschoolers were on a field trip today, so S-AL "asked" me to help it restock some shelves. By "ask", I of course mean that S-AL chucked books titled "Keeping Your Workspace Unnaturally Clean" and "No, Really, The Dewey Decimal System Is Cool!" when I tried to leave. Ms. Von Lutz's complete works was in the pile I organized. I can lead you to the correct shelf anytime you guys want. Though I'll warn you now, I may try and join the book club if the contents look interesting....
In the spirit of bad luck, while I was putting away the books Morris was doing the same thing a few rows down. And he had the idiotic idea to come up and try to apologize to me. It was freaky, I could allllllmost hear his footsteps, but not quite. And then he put his hand on my shoulder, and for once I could really feel its weight. *avoids eye contact and shivers* He probably felt how cold my new "skin" is. Well guess what buddy, it's cold to match my heart and soul. I'm cold, my body's cold, and you're getting the cold shoulder. Don't... don't ask why! I'm not talking about it!! Why can't everybody just LEAVE ME ALONE? *sound of test tubes "accidentally" falling over and students groaning in dismay* ...Sorry everyone... sorry... yeah, I'll see myself out. Sorry. Talk to you later Janice, I should go cool off. Sorry again guys....
*heads outside*
I've been hanging out in random classrooms lately. The teachers don't really mind as long as I stay out of the way. Some of them even let me join in class activities, like Ms. Janice Rootell. She's really cool. But I still wish I could just lock myself up in my dorm room and binge watch old TV shows instead. That always helps me feel better. Only two problems with that. 1.) Morris may visit and try to "apologize" 2.) It seems that when I was downtown yesterday, I picked up a stray.
*turns suddenly and glares at a tree*
*bad luck powers cause tree branch to break*
*goofy looking boy with binoculars falls to ground*
See? He keeps following me. "STOP STUDYING ME YOU STALKER!" *boy runs away*
He'll be back. I've been trying to ditch him ever since I left the auto body shop in town. I think he's a robot enthusiast or something. I have no idea how he made it in here with all of Psyhigh's security systems... maybe Tulka can help me out. I'll talk to him after I grab some lunch. I'm too hungry to deal with all these people right now. They just give me terrible headaches....
7/6/2015 1:58pmDear Mom and Dad,
I accidentally broke my phone again -- isn't bad luck just wonderful -- so I've resorted to e-mail to contact you. I still think the twice a week conversation quota you guys are enforcing is ridiculous, but I will respect it. I just wish that Atlantica would be the one to call you sometimes.
Things at Psyhigh have quieted down. The, um, minor safety issue I mentioned last week has blown over. It was just... ah... a visiting graduated student that had a PTSD episode. Her family members were able to subdue her though. The teachers had to put the school on soft lockdown as a precaution though. Don't worry, Attie and I were safe most of the time. I told you guys I'd protect her, didn't I? Though it may be harder to do that this week, as Atlantica's new bright idea is turning us all into superheros. I pity her friends, they seem overwhelmed. I'll try to keep her from standing on rooftops Batman style, but another case of Mom's tranquilizers would really be appreciated.
Speaking of Mom's tranquilizers, do you think I could get some with the formula you used during our preschool years? The kids I read to at the library keep getting riled up about some movie that's coming out soon -- Boo Bear and the Fun Adventure to Death Zombie Island -- and I can't control them to save my life. Today, some immature person put a lollipop on some poor ghost-hologram-whatever-boy's back when he wasn't looking. The children mobbed him and almost tore off his shirt trying to get the candy. I certainly wasn't expecting that... but it was surprisingly humorous. I know what Dad's probably saying, "Pacifica, it's not nice to laugh at other people's pain." But Daddy, trust me, I had good reason to laugh. Unfortunately, the laughter busted my synthetic lungs AGAIN and I had to go to the supernatural robotics lab AGAIN.
I don't mean to worry you guys, please don't worry. I've just got a few kinks in my system. There was... an "accident" ...and my robot suit got suddenly manually shut down. All my systems are malfunctioning now... but it's nothing I can't handle. Tomorrow I'm going down into town to visit the auto shop there and see if they can help me out. The supernatural robotics lab do their best, but they specialize in semi-magic mechanics. All their work is just temporary fixes. Right now, I can't even type. My left hand has completely locked. I have Attie typing out this e-mail while I dictate (Hiiii Mommy and Daddy! LOVE YOU!!!)
Seriously though, don't worry about us. We're safe, we're learning, we're making friends (or "besties"), and we'll be home for Peter's birthday. Give Peter and that big mutt of ours a hug from Attie and I each. Oh, and please don't send us anymore of Grandma's secret recipe cookies. Attie has been going crazy trying to recreate them. (Actually, please send more! I'm so close to cracking the code! Just needs more sugar! LOTS of sugar!)
Stay safe and enjoy the sun,
Pacifica (and Atlantica <3 <3 <3)
Hey, Atlantica, you're sening this through my Gaggli Mail account, right?
("Of course! I'm not dumb! What, do you think I'd post this onto the school website?!? You can trust me Paci!!!")
Yeah, I really should trust you more, shouldn't I?

Fortuna Strikes Back - 7/3/2015 2:50pmHow long have I been stuck up here, trapped to a magnet imbedded in the wall? A day? Longer? Not for the first time, I wish my body wasn't metallic. Sure, it also contains synthetic materials that are softer and simulate hair or skin. But the majority of it is metal, and causes huge problems when you're stuck to a magnet.
A couple of students have tried to convince the teachers to let me free -- thanks Amy, Lucy, Scilph, and EATER OF SOULS -- but they are adamant that I'm not to be released until @
*Atlantica* is found. The teachers are so paranoid at this point, they moved everyone away from Cobalt's Cavern entrance. I can't see anyone and they can't see me. It's actually pretty lonely here now. I hope everyone is okay.
Does any of this even matter at this point? Fortuna already knows where we are! The solution is no longer to just hide, we must fight! Like the delusional Gretel urged us too! *sigh* I can yell all I want, nobody will listen. Or can listen. They're all out of hearing range. It's a good thing my brain is half computer. I'd die of boredom without internet connection. I guess that's one good thing about cyborg-dom…
Wait, somebody is coming down the catacomb path! Is it Attie...? No! It's Morris! MORRIS! MORRIS, OVER HERE! CAN YOU GET ME DOWN? WE NEED TO ORGANIZE! TOGETHER WE CAN STOP FORTUNA! ("... Yeah. Let me help you....") Oh my gosh, I'm so glad you're here. With you, me, and Eralonia, we'll figure out a way to win in no time! Not to mention, we need to help @
Nobody save Mattie. I've been doing a lot if thinking and -- hey, no, the button to turn off the magnet is over there. Morris? Morris! Morris, stop, that's my suit's off button! That'll shut me dow--
[ Sleep mode activated. Conscious systems shutting down. ]
Fortuna Strikes Back - 7/2/2015 6:57pmThis may be the second worst day of my life. Besides all my friends being captured, brainwashed, possessed, and mentally abused by Fortuna, my sister was a zombie for awhile. She was tracking me like a bloodhound, I could feel her in my head... it brought back memories of the old days in the old body.... *shudders* Of course, once we figured out she was trying to sniff out Coblat's Cavern for Fortuna, the teachers acted fast. They implanted a large magnet in the cave across the way, stuck me to it, and ran. "We'll be nearby. Don't worry. If she comes, we'll grab her. You just stay here, you're the bait." They said. Then they smiled like this was an honor. I know they mean well, but being called bait isn't really a compliment. It brings to mind a large cut of stinking meat left to rot on a dirty forest floor. I'm not even made of flesh anymore!
But now, I know that Atlantica is okay again. I can feel it. If I can just pull myself from from this magnet, I can get out there and start doing things! Step 1: Find Attie, make sure she hasn't suffered excessive brain damage. Step 2: Get @
Nobody out of the closet. Step 3: Scrape all that paint off @
Walls. Step 4: Um... I have no idea. Maybe try to unpossess Mattie? We need Nobody to do that though. She and Eralonia seem to know the most about how to stop Fortuna. I'd ask @
Gretel for some prophetic insight, but last time I stopped her sick bed she was kind of delirious.
I'm so excited to get moving again, strike back, punch Fortuna in the jaw! If I can just-- *struggles to get off of magnet* Ugh... hopefully somebody comes by soon... maybe I can contact Attie via twin telepathy or whatever. It's worth a try, right?
Fortuna Strikes Back - 7/1/2015 4:11pmI just got done talking to everybody about Fortuna. I'm still freaked out... but at least my laptop has some battery and Wi-Fi. Journaling always calms me down.
This cavern @
Nobody has is pretty sweet. I thought that we'd run out of room, but it seems to stretch as wide as needed. I've seen the water spirit that controls all this a few times, but she's as easy to see as Nobody most the time. No wonder those two get along. Scilph is here too, carrying a tear-soaked and tight-lipped Eralonia. Morris has yet to return. I dragged Gretel down here with me. Atlantica... *wipes a synthetic robot tear* ... I couldn't get in our bedroom to bring her here. It's been magically sealed shut. Pardon my language, but screw Fortuna. *tries not to think of Attie* There's a lot of other students here. Not all the teachers wanted to evacuate, and some of the students were skeptical (and incredibly rude) but we've managed to store a majority of the school's population underground. Mattie... or should I say Fortuna... will be very shocked to discover a semi-deserted school.
Back to the important stuff, I brought all my research on Fortuna Atrox down here. This is a really sad story. I might as well write it down here in case the papers get lost or wet. I'm thankful for this refuge, but everything gets soaked here. Apparently, as Fortuna Atrox progressed through Psyhigh ranks her dimension creation capabilities heightened astonishingly fast. By her third year here, she was able to create a huge, detailed dimension all by herself and turn it in as her reality bending final project. Fortuna decided she would make the dimension based off a dream her and her friends shared. "Wouldn't it be great if there was a diner where all the food was free? And it was as big as the entire universe, so that we could invite everyone in the world to have lunch together?" That's right; Forever Diner was a 17 year old girl's idea of a perfect place. Weird. Here's the sad part: when Fortuna turned in the project, her teacher -- a really hard grader -- only gave her a B+ on it. Fortuna, the Valedictorian she was, tried to get the grade up to an A in any way she could. In desperation, she tried to make it a permanent dimension instead of a temporary one. She'd never done that before, and didn't have any of the proper zoning rights, and ended up getting sucked into the restaurant. After she disappeared into Forever Diner, nobody could locate her or the new dimension she made. Eventually she was assumed dead and rescue missions were disbanded. But as we know, she was/is alive. And there are sightings of Fortuna Atrox at various ages (and various states of sanity) throughout recorded history. She was all over, but never really permanently anywhere. And as she got older, she spent less and less time in our dimension. I don't know how that could be... but I'm sure her "daughter" knows. If only Eralonia would let us know... nevermind. I shouldn't pry. The teachers are discussing how to handle this, so I'm going to play Nobody in a game of exploding scrabble. She's worried about @
Walls. Hopefully we can take each other's minds off our unusual surroundings.
Fortuna Strikes Back - 7/1/2015 12:11pmWell, @
Gretel is passed out in the hallway outside my room. I'd try and move her, but all the Lovesick Soda she drank has made her body really twitchy and hard to hold on to. I hope she isn't having a seizure. *prods Gretel's arm with foot* *Gretel groans* Nah, she's alright. When all the sugar wears off I'll probably bring her to the infirmary. This shouldn't be a big deal. *Gretel moans and twitches* She'll be fine.
The main problem right now is that Atlantica locked the door to our bedroom before she went to bed. And now she won't wake up. It's almost noon, and she's still sleeping! Usually she's up at the crack of dawn to "Watch the pretty lights as the sun rolls into the sky and says hello!" I hope she isn't ill. I can't find out until she unlocks the door what's wrong though. I keep knocking on it, but she just mutters sleepily and shuffles under the quilts Mattie made for her yesterday. I'm actually starting to get a little worried. I left some of my Fortuna research in our bedroom! Even if Atlantica doesn't care about all this, that information is still important to me. I need it before three! In half an hour if she doesn't wake up I'll probably ask Tulka for an extra key so I can --
*Napkin appears and gently floats onto the computer's keyboard*
*Reads the napkin*
*Freaks out*
*Bangs on bedroom door*
*Desperately throws a chair at door*
*Gives up and (tries to) run out of dorm, jumping over Gretel as she runs*
ERALONIAAAAAAAAAAAAAA! HEEEEEEEEEEELP!
[The napkin reads: "Don't wake your sister, dear. She's having a nice dream beyond the screen. Please be good for me, honey, and wait until I'm done working with her. Love, Fortuna Atrox"]
7/1/2015 6:39amS-AL is the best librarian ever. It always let's me sleep here overnight (I don't mean to, I just kind of pass out. Exhaustion does that to a girl.) And in the morning it nudges me awake with "The Awakening of Destiny" and "On the Morning of the Battle" and other goofy titles to try and excite me for the coming day. So much easier to wake up to book nudges than to @
*Atlantica* jumping on my bed.
I had a terrible nightmare last night. I... I can't really remember what it was about. There was a girl... and... I don't know. It was just a dream anyways. I should really stop loitering around here and head back to our dorm, I don't want Atlantica to get nervous. She's been kind of fragile lately. I had to tell her all about some "Snowman Heaven" to keep her from having a total freak out over all her snowmen dying. I've also created Carrot Heaven, Sugar Heaven, and Road Kill Heaven. My time is obviously spent very wisely when Attie stops by. *rolls eyes* I think she's afraid Fortuna will start pulling us to the Forever Diner again. My poor sister can't stand being alone... it's a shame she can't enjoy solitude.
I can't wait to show everybody the information on Fortuna Atrox I found. Besides helping us "understand our enemy, it's a pretty interesting story! So, um, if you're interested in Fortuna's prologue or whatever, meet Atlantica and I in the freezers around three. It's too hot outside again. Oh, and NOBODY BRING MATTIE.

Fortuna Strikes Back - 6/30/2015 1:00pmThe kids from Children's Circle Preschool were brutal today. They haven't been able to play outside for days, because of obvious reasons. *trys to rub frost off arms* This has caused them to be hyperactive balls of UTTER DESTRUCTION. I got sick of trying to herd them all and just gave up. I opened the door in the Self - Aware Library (S-AL) that leads outside, and they rushed into the courtyard like a tornado towards a barn full of cows. Sorry to everybody who was enjoying the snow, I didn't know that the little girl in pink could make icicle monsters. On the bright side, the kids got so cold after about twenty minutes that they didn't want to do anything but huddle in groups under blankrts and maybe nap. S-AL and I were very happy to oblige.
My research on the force we assume is Fortuna is ongoing. @
Morris sorts the books, so he is a lot better at finding information quickly. S-AL never gives me the books I want, only the books it thinks I need. But why would I need books on genealogy or "How to Cope with Grudges"??? Yeah, yeah, Atlantica and I have a paper due on our family tree and our past lives (though the past lives are optional) but that's not the main issue right now. Besides, classes are canceled until the doors stop freezing shut. Thank goodness Atlantica and I can focus our good luck enough to find a few doors that are still functioning. It took about half an hour of random doors and lots of side hallways I've never seen before to even access S-AL!
This hasn't all been for naught though. I have found some information though that /might/ help us. First off, the last reported sighting of Fortuna at around 985 B.C. (thank you to Morris) is insane. Even with unnatural longevity associated with psychic powers or special circumstances like Scilph, 3,000 years is a long time to exist. Think of how many memories the brain would have to store... or how long the heart would have to pump... or how her teeth should've all fallen out. Obviously, something happened between 985 B.C. and her birth to give her a way to cheat aging or time or something. An escape from the timeline she seems to know sooooo much about. Well, look at this! *slams a dusty, aged, stained, and almost destroyed yearbook onto table* The Psychic High School Yearbook, class of 1934 - 1935. There was a girl who enrolled as a freshman with the name of Fortuna Atrox. She had a special mention on the Valedictorian page, saying she managed to obtain straight A's despite arriving halfway through the year. There's even quote from her teacher saying that she was "A pleasent girl with a big heart to match her big brains." Weirder still, her only psychic powers mentioned here are reality bending and creating very small and temporary separate dimensions. Nothing about animating glass or dimension traveling.
Am I researching the wrong girl? What am I missing? What could have happened that made Fortuna, the evil sorceress of 985 B.C., into a mild-mannered girl of 1934? What enhanced her powers? And what could make her turn to the dark side of the psychic world? I need to find more of these yearbooks. Maybe just another hour of searching, or maybe if I talk to Morris and compare findings--
("Hey Pacifica, I'm tired of reading these picture books. I'm going over to one of my BFR (Besties For Resties) dorms!" Yeah, that's cool. Thanks for your help sis. Who's room are you going to, in case I need to find you later? "@
Matching by Mattie's! I want to help her paint the walls of Walls! *laughs hysterically at own joke*" Uh, yeah, Okay. Have fun. "Will do! She said that she can't wait to see me behind the screen! I don't know what that means, but it sounds super duper ooper fun!!!")
Fortuna Strikes Back - 6/30/2015 5:36amNote to self: never read another student's post starting with MY GOODNESS GRACIOUS when you wake up in the morning. No offense to you @
Scilph, I just can't handle the beginning of a major crisis before I have my morning coffee. ("You can't drink coffee anymore Pacifica!" I know, I know, I was trying to make a joke. *grumble grumble*
I don't know if it is Fortuna that is causing all this. Dean Hammer DID say that it was the Demonic Powers Administration was behind the heat wave. And @
Matching by Mattie's... um... new leaf (?) seems to be from the removal of her make-up -- I always knew that stuff was evil. I can't see how Fortuna would be the cause of all this... then again, this is all really bad luck. Hmm.
Before we take a course of action, I'm going to go do some research. We already know some things about Fortuna; she lives at the Forever Diner, she hates Psyhigh, she can zap people out of time, judging by her name she probably has some luck influence capabilities, can see the future, she said she's related to one of us (!), and she likes bacon burgers. After my part-time job at the Self-Aware Library, I'll see if I can dig up a book on her. Or maybe S-AL has some old yearbooks I could search for her in. Hopefully this will turn out to just be another weird incident at Psyhigh. But... ("Look Pacifica! My good luck caused the frost to melt off our window and door! We can open them again!") ...nothing at Psyhigh ever seems like a coincidence.
