Howdy! So, this is Rubellite. I'm not really sure what to say, since I just got here, but I have to admit, this place is pretty rad.
I don't know how I should feel about how my shadow can apparently perform independent actions now, but maybe that's normal? Are shadows supposed to be solid? Feels weirdly smooth when I touch it, and kind of sticky, for some reason.

Hello Rubellite.

I should like to meet your shadow. They seem like a nice, strange, oddly independent creature. Maybe they could talk if you taught them how?

Unfortunately I am not telepathic, but I actually lost my own shadow recently, along with something else that I can't remember, but I think it's important. Maybe your shadow knows where mine is?

Well, I've spent ten minutes poking at it, and another just staring, but my shadow didn't move. Mostly I only see that happen out of the corner of my eye. It hasn't done much yet, mostly just moving things around and, on one memorable occasion, knocking all my homework off my desk.

@Azura Kynold Sorry, but I haven't seen any other shadows recently, though if I see yours around, I'll let you know. Maybe you could make some lost shadow flyers?

Your shadow sounds a little rude, knocking things down like that. Maybe it's just a little cranky? I hope your shadow learns some manners and becomes a nice functioning member of society.

Missing shadow flyers do sound like a good idea, but the problem is, I don't remember how long it's been gone. It may have never been here... though I'm sure I remember having a shadow when I was smaller.... but I don't know if that's the past of future. Hopefully I'm not smaller in the future, I like this height.

I'm trying to drill some manners into this shadow of mine. I'm not sure how to go about it, though I'm thinking maybe buying it a cravat will help? I've heard only those with very good manners can wear a cravat. At any rate, it can't hurt to try. Its manners have only gotten worse; today I think it might have eaten my AP Spiritual Communications teacher.

I'm sorry to hear about your memory issues. On the bright side, if you do shrink in the future, it will be much easier to win when playing Hide and Seek, though of course that depends on whether you are the hider or seeker, and what psychic powers are allowed.

Maybe take it on an etiquette course? I hear that those are effective. Maybe it's just a little mean. I do hope that teacher will be okay, and that your shadow disgorges her whole and alive some time. Maybe it's just storing her for later?

I suppose being smaller would have good things. It's no so much a memory problem... I remember most things, I'm just bad at remembering what order they're in... and whether they've happened yet. Maybe if I become smaller I can talk to your shadow because I'll be closer to the ground?

Oh dear yes I do believe your memory issues may be related to your errant shadow, @Azura Kynold. Without it you're really not a whole person and your mind will slowly begin to disintegrate. I believe you're already experiencing some symptoms of this with your macro/micro going all wacky (smaller in the morning, bigger at nite, etc).

I've got some experience with a needle and thread (and my goodness was I lucky to stay out of that Alteration Society trouble), and would be happy to help get your shadow reattached. But it is a matter of catching it first, isn't it? Flyers sound like a wonderful place to start. Does your shadow have any distinguishing features?

Thank you for helping , but I do doubt that my missing shadow relates to my memory issues. Either way, it would be nice to have it back, that's for sure.

Distinguishing features? Well, generally it looks like me, but dark, and stretched. Sometimes, it moves a little slower than I do. Sometimes I think I see it try to speak, but no sound comes out.

Other than that, it has all the features of a regular shadow.... unless it's still there but it's become invisible? Considering this school, I wouldn't be too surprised.

I went ahead and made some flyers and put them up in the commons and outside the library and at the Spoonbender coffee shop and they did really well. Who knew there were so many orphaned shadows around campus?

Do you think you could pick your shadow out from a line up, @Azura Kynold? I have them all in mason jars, but if I let them out in a dark room and use a flashlight I think you could get a good look at them. But we should probably keep them isolated from stubborn ones like @Rubellite's.

Thank you Moira, that's very helpful. It is ever so kind to you to help me out here. I will definitely be able to find my own shadow, I've always been rather partial to images and reflections of myself. But to be fair, I've always been partial to myself.

Or, well, I think so. It's hard to figure out which of my memories have happened and which are dreams or haven't happened yet.

I'm still missing something, the thing I can't remember, but I wonder if it will return upon attaching my shadow?
