Welcome new students! And returning students with memory issues!
By now I know you're milling around helplessly, looking for your dorm, new friends, your luggage, and perhaps some water without all those pesky mind control chemicals in it.
Students from the Active Psychic Student Alliance (APSA) are here to help. You can identify them by their bright green jackets, and can find them throughout campus waiting on your every need. If an Active Psychic Student Alliance student is not immediately available, merely concentrate on the ⊷ ⊱ ⊙ ⊍ series as described in your orientation brochure.
And of course know that you're always welcome to visit me in my office! It's located on the third-and-a-half floor of the administration building, through the mirrored hallway of the Future Nurse and around the corner from the Belated Boiler. If I'm not in my office just leave a note on my bulletin board with the little crayon on the string.
Looking forward to a wonderful new preternatural school year!

I tried talking to some of those APSA students in the green jackets for help finding my classes, but they weren't helpful at all.
When I went up to some of them outside the library they just kept talking to each other like I wasn't there. And then when I found some in the cafeteria they just kept looking at their phones and wouldn't acknowledge me either (except to say I should get the app, which they could tattoo onto my skin if I wanted, somewhere in the cellars) and then there are the other ones who just hang outside the back of the gym and vape some sort of nasty alien smelling stuff.
I think the APSA are a bunch of stuck-up elitists who just lord their upper-classperson status over everybody.
So how do I join the APSA?

The APSA kids killed my family.

Yesterday I made a friend in my Practical Psychic Philosophy class. His name is Zac. When I walked in the room, there were no other seats, so I had to sit next to him.
He looked kinda judgy at my hair, and I was thinking, oh no, is he one of those people that is against colored hair for some reason? Will I have to sit next to him all year? And then he stared at my backpack all judgy, too. It was the red one with little pink cupcakes I've had forever. The look on his face- I knew in that moment I was done for on my first day. I would sit next to him all year, and every day him and all his friends would call me bleach hair and throw trash at me and beat me up after class and I'd have to drop out and I'd spend my life living under a bridge eating canned beans this can't be happening-
Then he smiled. He has a nice smile. I mean, who doesn't? Their real smiles, I mean. But lots of people hide their real, happy smiles, so you get a lot of bad smiles out there. More like grimaces. But he looked... so happy! So genuinely happy! I was floored.
He said, "I like your hair." When you have unusual hair, you get a lot of compliments on it. You also get a lot of, 'Wow, it's so... blue...' comments from people who think you can't tell they want to go at your head with a lawnmower. But his compliment was different. It seemed like it wasn't something he said to be nice, or because it was the elephant in the room, or as a gateway to a conversation. He said it because he meant it. I thought it was sweet.
"Thanks, I like your shirt." I said. And I did! I do! It had the Welcome to Nightvale logo on it.
"Yeah? You listen to it?" He asked.
"Yeah. I like supernatural junk. Well," I said, waving my hand around, "obviously, since it's my life."
He laughed. Angels cried in joy.
"I do too. I'm Zac, Zac Brown." He held out his hand. Oh my God he held out his hand. The realization just hit me like a bus. I touched his hand. I'll end this quick so I can go cry.
I took his hand. It felt like electricity was flowing through my veins. And not because he was using one of those joke-shock buttons. He would never.
"I'm Wendy, Wendy Smith."
Did you know that some of the most common last names are things like Smith, Fletcher, and Farmer because they were occupations? In that moment, I didn't. I think he does. I'll have to ask. Yes! Something to bring up next time I see him!
"Nice to meet you, Wendy." He smiled. He shook my hand. I was hooked. I still am hooked. Oh God, on the first day? Wendy, what ARE you doing?

Thank you students for your deep interest in the Active Psychic Student Alliance (APSA)!
As Psyhigh's Student Activities Coordinator, the APSA is like my right hand! Or, at least a really important tentacle.
APSA members are specifically recruited for their unique skills and abilities, discovered by our legendary scouts. Always looking for special talents, those scouts!
The APSA motto explains it well: Don't call us. We'll call you.
You'll be hearing from us in the morning.

All I saw was a flash of those green jackets, then they put a sack over my head and hauled me out of my dorm room.
Where was my roommate? Where was everybody else? Everything was deathly quiet -- except me. I was yelling and pounding the back of the very large APSA member who was carrying me over their shoulder.
Now I've been in what sounds like a truck for most of the day. And I really need a bathroom.
Is this part of the APSA initiation? Or are they just against people with colored hair for some reason?

Welcome to the APSA initiation! Here at the beautiful Lake Logres Resort and Spa in the heart of the Black Mountains. And we'd like to thank our sponsor Viviane Travel LLC for their generous assistance in covering our accommodation and travel expenses. Let's have a big round of applause for Viviane! I believe she's with us tonight, yes if you look closely out past the floating dock you can just catch a glimmer in the setting sun.
So, each of you have been brought here to spend a few nights because we feel you've got that "something special" it takes to be an APSA member. And let me tell you we've done our homework! From deep background checks to genealogy to hair and fingernail samples, we know you're the real deal.
We hope you'll be able to unwind and enjoy all that Lake Logres Resport and Spa has to offer, while we all just get to know each other a little better, shall we?

i overheard the APSA students talking at lunch yesterday
its 2:46am, i'm staring at my ceiling fan and i still hear them talking
they're always talking but i can never understand what they're saying
maybe it's the green in their jackets

Hanging out at Lake Logres Resort and Spa with the APSA kids has been super chill. Even in light of the abduction. It was probably just some kind of hazing ritual.
and I and a bunch of the other kids have been hanging out around the resort, and the indoor/outdoor infinity pool, or on the little mountain trails. It's beautiful this time of year, and crazy that we get to miss the first weeks of school just so we can be a part of this cool club!
Jenny O is off on one of the screening appointments, which we all have. It comes up on your phone when it's your time. My first ones were about holding shapes inside of a velvet bag with one hand and pointing to a picture of the shape with the other. I liked those because they were easy.
But now they're getting harder... like, you have to put on a leotard and then learn a dance with some fancy dance instructor and then you have to go on stage and do it for a bunch of people. Or the singing coach goes though a song with you once and then you have to perform it in front of the same people. At least it looks like there's a lot of people out there. I'm terrible at signing so it was REALLY embarrassing. Jenny O said she just pretended it was karaoke.
