You see, I was expelled for a year because of Luna, my cat familiar. The headmaster decided it himself.

It was a Wednesday. The worst day of the week, in my opinion. It was raining, so I went to the creature classroom early. Mrs. Pagett was preparing

Almost nothing has changed. Well, for me. This is how it always was. I tried to tell people, but they didn’t believe me. The only thing that’s different is that there is now a large rabbit statue outside the house across the street, but the people who live in that house love Easter, so even that isn’t strange.

I remember the first time I went to the non-mandatory class about familiars. I was super bored, and the boys wouldn’t let me play soccer with them. (Probably cause I always beat them.) I wandered around the school for a while, and swiped a cookie from the cafeteria. Soon enough, I was contemplating whether or not I should skip the rest of the school day.

Then I saw Mr. Garrett. Now, I didn’t know who he was at the time, so I called him Larry. (Don’t judge me, doesn’t he look like a Larry?) He was talking to a group of students, who looked very intrigued. I started to walk towards them, when I noticed there was a large purple circle painted on the grass around them. I knew that it was called a magic circle from spell casting class. I stepped over the circle and was amazed.

There were ghosts everywhere! But not human ghosts, Animals! There were cats, and birds, and wolves, and any thing else you can imagine. I wandered over to Mr Garrett. The other students were looking at all the animals. “Hello, Lia! I’m Mr Garrett.” He said. “Hi!” I answered. “Take your pick!” He told me. I was confused. “What do you mean?” I asked. “These are familiars, Lia. You can pick one, and if it agrees, it will turn invisible to everyone but you!” He explained.

I nodded, mystified, and turned to look at the familiars. A small black cat caught my eye, so I walked over to it and held out my hand for it to sniff. It licked my hand and looked up at me expectantly. Then I remembered what Mr. Mannigan had said about familiars. “Give it a name and it will be yours!” He always said. “I’ll name you... Luna. Yeah. Luna!” I said. Mr Garrett shouted, “I can’t see the cat anymore! Good job, Lia!” I smiled.

And that’s how I met my favorite cat in the world. (Oh, and did I mention she can turn into a panther? Pretty cool, huh?)

Dear Diary,
Today was my first day at PHS! Everyone seems really nice. I met a girl named Mary. I think she’s my new friend! Well, my moms calling me for dinner now.
