Welcome to my student-taught class, Dark Spells and Effective Uses. First, let's all give a big thank-you to Dr. Tahity of the Citadel for being the only teacher to volunteer to oversee this class.

I know we haven't been able to decide on a good meeting place for this class. Although we are meeting in the Verboten Forest today, our main "headquarters," for lack of a better word, will be Todmorden Hall. Please talk to me if, for some reason, one of your teachers has formed a psychic wall banning you from entering.
Right, ok, let's start with the first lesson, which is actually a teeny-tiny...test. Don't worry, it's nothing for a grade. It's... yeah.
I'm going to evaluate your souls, so sit still and try not to think of anything abnormal, don't touch each other, stuff like that. It won't hurt a bit... well, it might, I don't know.

You all were eligible for this class already, but I was just making sure your auras didn't change at all in the week that you all signed up. Unfortunately, some of you have changed slightly, but not drastically enough that you cannot perform well.
So, your first spell: the misfortune incantation. When cast on the subject, great misfortune will follow for him/her/it. Dr Tahity, would you kindly retrieve the hate mannequin form my chest?
No, the other hate mannequin. I have that reserved for... special reasons. ((Class prank, you know? Yes, that one.)) Tie it up to that tree.
Alright, so this is for practice with dark spells. If we practiced on real people one or more of us get expelled. Here's what you do: 1) think of the subject, in this case the mannequin.
Do that, everybody do this as I explain the instructions.
2) think of how much you hate the subject. Has everyone got that? We're just making sure you know how this feels. Alright, now stop thinking about that. Step three could go very, very badly should you fail.
You want to say the incantation, ᎨᎲᎴ-ᏠᎥ. It's pronounced Gehv-leh-TOHV. Repeat after me: ᎨᎲᎴ-ᏠᎥ. Okay, now I'm going to show you the spell.
"ᎨᎲᎴ-ᏠᎥ!"
*the sound of the mannequin falling from the tree and bouncing on the ground can be heard*
*the sound of an oof from Dr Tahity can also be heard*
Dr. Tahity? Dr Tahity? Are- are you ok? She's ok, right?
Class dismissed.

Well, the other day was a slight fiasco and the healers are working hard with Dr Tahity, but today we'll start with something a little less involved: you'll learn how to control the shadows, like so:

As you can see, I have manipulated the shadow in that ominous corner to take the shape of an image in my mind. It requires laser focus, but you can always concentrate on a demonic symbol and coax the shadow. Why don't we try that. Concentrate on one of the demonic symbols on your cheat sheet.
