I'm really glad to find a place like Psychic High School. Everyone here is free to do what they want, as long as they keep up their studies. In my homeland, there are not so many options.

Everyone at home works on the Grand Zenith Autocannon day and night, because it's not going to run itself! It has been firing continually, without interruption, for the last 300 years, and of that we are very proud. But it takes a lot of work. The giant machinery takes up a city block, and it needs to be continually oiled and parts rotated out or replaced when they get too hot. And it needs to be loaded non-stop, since it fires one shell every 3 seconds. And each shell is the size of one of your small cars.

Making the ammunition is what most people are engaged in, since the Autocannon has such an appetite. My parents are Surveyors of the Realm, Third Level, which in the old days meant they'd be out looking for undiscovered deposits of ore to mine. Then the ore ran out. They still keep the title, but now it means they manage a team that collects the remains from the shells after they're fired at the Great Door and explode. They've had some close calls, dodging the continuous rain of shrapnel, but their team is still ranked in the top 100 in terms of safety and raw tonnes salvaged.

So everyone in my homeland is either maintaining the Autocannon, firing the Autocannon, loading the Autocannon, creating ammunition for the Autocannon, or feeding or serving people doing that work. But because of my parent's connections, they could get me an interdimensional study visa to come to Psyhigh. I hope to broaden my horizons while I am here.
