Weather Witches Wanted!

For all students staying on campus this holiday:

Preparations for the Winter Festival begin tomorrow. As we haven't quite had the snow we'd like, we need some of you weather kids out on the grounds tomorrow morning at 8am to help get things moving.

If you've got any level of experience in cryokinesis - contemporary, classic, or ancient - or an elemental ability that could help produce heaps of fluffy white snow, or are handy at running some of our old weather control machines, we could really use your help.

Plus - donuts! Tomorrow morning at 8am - meet in the courtyard outside the commons.

See you there!

All the ice statues are so beautiful!! Great job everybody who had a hand in that. I especially like the Jean Dixon interpretation where she has three heads.

I love this time on campus because so many students head home for the holidays, so there's a special camaraderie between everybody who sticks around. And those people who take off miss so much!

Lydia/Denise - my two headed aunt from the lunch room, has asked me to help out at their Shave Ice cart tomorrow. Well, Lydia calls it Shave Ice, but Denise insists it's just Sno-cones. Lydia says it can't be "Sno-cones" because that's a brand name thing and they don't have a "Sno-cone" maker, but Denise says they can just be "Snow Cones" and they can just use regular snow. They bicker like that all the time.

My back-head isn't so assertive. Except for being boy-crazy. And picking fights with snooty people.

Anyway, come by for some kind of ice treat in a cup tomorrow!!!

I must agree with @Squiggly! The ice sculptures throughout campus have been a real triumph this year, from the Ibis Cult Student Union's magnificent Thoth in the courtyard, to the Madame Blavatsky crafted by the Psychic Feminist Leadership Club outside of Florence Hall.

But it doesn't end there! Winter Festival continues tomorrow with amazing wintery treats and surprises throughout campus.

Tonight, Weather Witches please meet up in the courtyard at 11pm so we can keep everything perfectly iced up.

See you there!

The Winter Festival has been great! I love all the snow they had shipped in.

We've been selling plenty of Ice Cones. Well, mostly my two-headed lunch lady auntie Lydia/Denise - she does all the work, shaving the ice down with the ritual diamond skull they found on vacation in Mexico. I take the money and make the change, while my back-head shouts orders to Lydia.

And it was cool because one of my favorite people @DKULT showed up!!! Slurped down about four Ice Cones in a row. Then I had a break so we went down to the Akashic Hall of Mirrors, which is all made of ice, and you have to slip and fall your way through and you keep banging your head and running into these movies of other people's lives and it's really disorienting and a total hoot! If you haven't been yet you totally have to.

I'm back at the Ice Cone table tomorrow. Come by and try the Ayahuasca-Pineapple before we run out again!!!

My Witch Team got knocked out in the first round of the Autonomous Broomball playoffs today. I'm really not a jock, but the head that grows out of my back has some witchery skills, so we got drafted into a squad. Which means I didn't really get to watch the game - I stood up on the dais with the team, but had to face toward the crowd the whole time and lead cheers. It was fun.

But the team that beat us - YaYa's Minions - is badass. I watched them play in the second round and the even had little arms sprouting out of their brooms. Just like the in Sorcerer's Apprentice. None of the other teams could do that. So on the ice there's one team of regular looking brooms in position, but YaYa's Minions has perfect old-fashioned handmade brooms looking really buff with their little arms sticking out and waving around.

Part of the reason we got asked to play was that with my connections to the lunch ladies we could borrow all the brooms from the janitor's closet. Actually we had to use a mis-matched bunch of brooms, mops, and a couple of Swiffers. Not saying that skill doesn't have a lot to do with it. When you watch the witches on the platform, each one doing their own set of intricate hand gestures while they guide the brooms out on the ice, you can see which witches are really good at it. And all those YaYa's Minions kids are super intensely into it.

Going to get a hot chocolate and a Peppermint Shatzkin while we watch the finals!
