Dearest Journal (or school assignment, whatever),

I suppose, since it is my very first day at this new school, I might as well describe myself. So, hi. My name is Melody. I am the ripe young age of 14 years old, though I often feel older. I enjoy painting as both a recreational hobby as well as a form of stress relief, and when I'm not painting, I wish that I am. I also have an extensive knowledge of Medieval weaponry, courtesy of my history-driven mother. As far as my physic background goes, I guess you could say that it was a long time coming. Both my sister and my mother demonstrated supernatural talents from a very young age, while I remained in the dark until a few months ago, when I began to hear the thoughts of everyone around me, much to my chagrin. Before then, I had been looking forward to living a moderately normal life, but that dream, no matter how pathetic, was dashed as soon as I could intrude upon others' deepest thoughts and musings.

Enough about my life for today: maybe I'll write more tomorrow, maybe I won't. You'll have to see.
